ABOUT
Svetlana is a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer. She is originally from Moscow, Russia now lives in London, UK.
Education
Svetlana holds an MA in Dance Anthropology with Distinction from the University of Roehampton, London (2018-2020) as well as Performing Arts four-year diploma with distinction from Moiseyev Dance Academy, Moscow (1990-1994). Svetlana studied various forms of dance, composition and choreography throughout her career and completed vocational courses at ADF (American Dance Festival) and Rambert Dance Company.
As a dancer
Svetlana is a former dancer at Moiseyev Ballet/Moiseyev Ensemble (1994-1997); principal dancer at Riverdance The Show (1997-1999) and Riverdance on Broadway (1999-2001); performer for The Kosh Physical Theatre Company in London (2002-2005). As a dancer, she also took part in projects such as BBC adaptation of Wolf Hall; music videos for Muse, Kid Symphony, Blazin’ Squad, and Promax Award Ceremony With Johnny Vegas.
As a choreographer
Svetlana assisted and worked on The Seagull for The Royal Court Theatre; Stones in His Pockets for Tricycle Theatre; Kosh physical theatre production of The Square of Sky and The Parting; Dolls House, Little Prince, Odessa stories, Marriage of Figaro for Xamelion Theatre in London and social advert for Action Aid.
Svetlana has also worked as a movement director for a sold-out performance of “Brodsky Station” at Edinburgh International Festival (2017) and was a guest choreographer for Gingerline Production of “Great Expedition” in (2019).
Present
Currently, Svetlana collaborates and performs as a lead dancer with Kin Collective (former Alive Contemporary Dance Company) in London, which took part in the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Australia, 2020.
Svetlana also teaches and reads lectures on the History of Ballet, Dance Anthropology and Contemporary Choreography.
In April 2021 she is taking part in the International Conference - The Makings of the Actor: Embodiment in Acting Practice
(Copenhagen, Denmark).
